Gaps between your ductwork and the drywall cause a 10%-15% air transfer from the attic to the inside of your home. In the summer, our attics get very hot (temperatures of over 150 degrees). Keeping these gaps sealed will prevent that hot air from entering your home and in winter keep cold air out and warm air in.
